Farley 316 S Mayo Trail Pikeville, KY When: Wednesday, November 16 Time: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please respond to this e-mail to register for this training session. IMPORTANT!!!! IMPORTANT!!!! I am seeking teachers to help lead the discussion for this training. If you have been utilizing these resources and can join us this day to assist with training, please let me know. Full Article Advanced Accounting Training July 11-13, 2016 KY Society of CPA Office Louisville, KY Administrators and Teachers: I am pleased to announce an Advanced Accounting Professional Development Training for Business and Marketing teachers in the state of Kentucky. The three day training session will be held July 11-13, 2016 at the KY Society of CPA office in Louisville, Kentucky. The past several years, many Kentucky educators attended this training and have spoken very highly about the course and the materials. To learn more about the Advanced Accounting Project and course, please visit www.accountingpilot.com. This year, the American Institute of CPAs is sponsoring a portion of the funding to provide this to teachers in select states in the U.S. Kentucky is one of the selected states! This training is open to any Kentucky Business and Marketing Educator who has an interest in teaching the course. The training will be capped at 35 teachers, and the teachers are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses. The teachers who respond and fill out the application and are accepted, will receive a $100 stipend per day to attend the training. I have attached the application that needs to be completed by everyone wishing to attend the training and sent back to me ASAP. Everyone who attends will receive a free textbook and curriculum binder for the course along with a free financial calculator used by the instructors. The Accounting Department at Western Kentucky University is willing to award ACCT 200 credit for any student who has taken the advanced course and earned a 3 or higher on the qualifying exam. In addition to working with universities on awarding credit, the KY Business Education taskforce also agreed to add this course in several of the career pathways that we offer. If you are interested in attending, please fill out the attached application. You must be present the entire three days of the workshop in order to be eligible to teach the course. The Lee County Area Technology Center is proud to announce that Office Technology student, Kayla Combs, has been named recipient of the 2016 KPMG Future Leaders Scholarship. KPMG Future Leaders Mentoring Program in conjunction with the Office of Condoleezza Rice selected 16 top high school senior female students from around the country to participate in this program.
The KPMG Future Leaders Program involved a very competitive application process which included four 500 word essays. The program strives to foster a strong foundation for young women to succeed in college and ultimately in their long-term business career. The students selected will: 1) Receive a KPMG Future Leaders Scholarship of $10,000 per year for 4 years of college. 2) Attend a three day KPMG Future Leaders Retreat the summer before their freshman year of college, at Stanford University in Stanford, CA with one mentor (July 11-13, 2016).
KPMG is deeply committed to the advancement, development and empowerment of women. As women break glass ceilings in the workplace and excel on the international athletic stage, the influence of women will only continue to grow and affect our society for the better. In 2015 KPMG, in collaboration with the PGA of America, the LPGA, and NBC, hosted the first ever KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, to elevate the game of women’s golf, and Women’s Leadership Summit, to reach the next generation of women leaders to senior leadership positions in business. Accomplished women from around the country participated in Summit discussions about women in the workplace. The 2015 tournament was won by Inbee Park, a 26 year old from South Korea. With this initiative, the KPMG Future Leaders Program in partnership with Dr. Condoleezza Rice, will “pay it forward” to future generations of women leaders by providing leadership training to top high school senior female students from around the country preparing for their college career. |
